Man arrested after allegedly firing round in Provo road rage incident

A Provo police car is parked on Center Street on Saturday, June 25, 2022.A man was arrested last week after allegedly engaging in a road rage incident and firing a round at a vehicle while a victim fled the location.
Hamilton Molina Tabanico, 30, of Orem, was arrested by Provo police on suspicion of attempted murder, a second-degree felony; aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; and being a restricted person participating in dangerous weapon conduct, a second-degree felony.
Tabanico also faces two misdemeanor counts of failing to use an ignition interlock device and driving on a suspended license.
According to a news release, dispatch received reports of a road rage incident involving assault and a shot being fired in the area of 600 W. and 300 South in Provo at 10:08 p.m. Jan. 1.
Police said an alleged victim reported that a male exited a Subaru, brandished a gun and aimed it at the victim.
“As the victim fled the location, the suspect is alleged to have fired a round towards the vehicle,” the news release said.
Police located the suspect’s vehicle, said Tabanico matched the provided descriptions and located and seized a firearm, the news release said.
