News sources have reported on voters’ widespread dissatisfaction with their current party affiliation. Many people have left their parties, citing some version of “I didn’t leave the party; the party left me,” or “it no longer reflects my values.”  Newly unaffiliated voters might be described as politically homeless.

Some “homeless” voters probably have chosen to withdraw from civic engagement, but I believe many others want to contribute politically. We want a better choice than voting for “the lesser of two evils.”  We want to elect good leaders who share our moderate approach and who reject ideological extremes. We want leaders who listen to diverse viewpoints and who do not fear compromise. Some of us would consider running for office, but we don’t see a way to do that through the major parties without compromising our morals and ideals.

If you feel politically homeless, what can you do? Come to the United Utah Party! Study our moderate platform and our philosophy of finding consensus on political issues. Find meaningful ways to participate in Utah’s political discourse without dissolving into hurtful dogma. Discover a new political home and help bring civility back to politics!
