Letter: Jacobson needed for clerk’s office
We need to elect write-in candidate Candace Jacobson for Utah County clerk. Utah County has a troubling race for county clerk happening now. Aaron Davidson is the only major party candidate for Clerk on November’s ballot. He has vowed to get rid of the very popular vote by mail option saying “… I am not only not for universal mail-in ballots, I am adamantly against it.” His opponent is Independent American nominee Jake Oaks, who has said he will not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples if he is elected. Both of the candidates currently on the ballot are running not to serve the public but to pursue their personal political agendas which will saddle county taxpayers with higher taxes. There will be an enormous tax burden that Utah County taxpayers will have to pay if we get rid of vote by mail, go back to voting in person (polling stations, training, paying poll workers, new computers, etc.), or become involved in litigation over same sex marriage licenses, as the two candidates have proposed. According to the county clerk’s office, 97% of county voters prefer to vote by mail.
Thankfully, the smart, levelheaded and experienced Candace Jacobson has filed as a write-in candidate. If you live in Utah County, and love voting by mail, please write in Candace Jacobson’s name for county clerk.
