Letter: Let Orem lead the way on civility

Jul 29, 2023

Orem is largely a community of wonderful, cooperative people and is generally a community of willing volunteers and peacemakers. On the other hand, in the nation and world, there is often a perception that contention is synonymous with power and politics. It is easy to get sucked into that mentality. Differences of opinion are a normal part of creating public policy. Valued public servants represent all constituents and not just special interest groups and carefully consider all viewpoints prior to making decisions that are in the best interest of the community.

As we approach the election this fall where we will elect three city council members, we encourage Orem citizens to support capable candidates who demonstrate exemplary character and use positive campaign tactics. Those are the candidates who have developed the character to listen, understand, lift and counsel to more appropriately represent our entire Orem community.

We encourage support of those types of candidates.
