A 17-year-old male is facing charges after reportedly taping fish to ATMs across Provo. His actions were destructive and bizarre — but they were also cruel.

While fish might look different from humans, they are sensitive, complex aquatic animals. Fish can count and tell time, think ahead, and “talk” to one another underwater. They also feel physical pain.

Every animal is an individual, and fish deserve the same freedom and respect as all living beings.
