Letter: Group not as concerned about other ethical dilemmas

Feb 19, 2025

There has been a spate of hand-wringing and pearl-clutching on these pages of late. A coordinated effort, it seems, by members of Mormon Women for Ethical Government opining on the new president and his choices for cabinet level nominees. They deem them un-ethical, if you’re unsure. Makes one wonder why their word processors were silent as thousands illegally crossed our southern border daily, or the physical and mental ineptitude of our former head-of-state was scandalously hidden, or billions of taxpayer dollars were wasted annually as a matter of policy, or an obvious social epidemic was allowed to fester and spread among our young people due to government fiat…et cetera…et cetera…et cetera. I refuse to believe Mormon Women for Ethical Government were happy about those issues. Yet somehow their angst is piqued by a unique president recruiting a crew to help him course-correct the Ship of State amid stormy seas. A majority of Americans voted for this. So wake up, smell the Coke Zero sisters, and climb aboard–your ethics have left you stranded on the pier.
