Letters: Sen. Curtis stands up for Utah’s energy future
I saw that U.S. Senator Curtis recently sent a letter to the Senate Majority Leader expressing his support for the protection of federal energy tax credits enacted through the Inflation Reduction Act. As a young Utahn and Republican, I applaud the Senator and am grateful that he highlighted the vital role these credits play in unleashing American-made energy.
Utah is on the right path when it comes to economic growth, and it is crucial that we continue to invest in our energy sector to strengthen the global competitiveness of American companies. To date, a whopping $742,300,000 in investments have been announced in our state as a result of these tax credits, rebates, and incentives. Supporting the extension of these tax policies means companies won’t face disruptions with their investments, keeping Utah’s reputation for being an economic powerhouse solid. With unprecedented growth projected in addition to higher energy demands with AI development, I am concerned about the affordability of living in my home state. Growing Utah’s diverse energy industry is essential to maintaining our competitive edge in the global market as well as ensuring that younger generations like myself can lay roots in our great state. This can be accomplished all while keeping costs low for households and creating good-paying jobs.
Senator Curtis demonstrated he understands what it means to embrace an all-of-the-above energy strategy that prioritizes Utah jobs and a strong economy, and I hope his colleagues in the Senate follow his lead.
