Letter: Utah leads on the future of energy

Oct 15, 2025

As the national conversation around American energy dominance grows, Utah is stepping up and much of that credit goes to Senator John Curtis. Last month, Senator Curtis spoke during National Clean Energy Week, sharing that he has never found anyone in Utah who did not want to leave the Earth better than they found it. This principle drives Utah’s approach to energy, championed by Governor Cox’s “Operation Gigawatt,” which is closing the gap between energy supply and demand. This initiative demonstrated that responsibility and progress go hand in hand.

With an abundance of natural resources, Utah is well-positioned to develop smart energy policies and solutions to meet increased need while prioritizing affordability. Without such measures, Utah’s businesses and consumers at home will face higher utility bills.

This month, Senator Curtis hosts the Fourth Annual Conservative Climate Summit on October 17. The summit is drawing national attention, including from U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, who is a featured speaker. That kind of participation underscores Utah’s role to shape a forward-looking, balanced energy future. The summit offers a chance to listen to ideas that put American energy first.

Victoria Vincent is the National Committeewoman for the Utah Young Republicans, where she serves as a key advocate for engaging the next generation of conservative leaders.

Starting at $4.32/week.
