Jerry Lee Jensen, 85, of Payson Utah, passed away peacefully on 10 August 2021. Born 22 May 1936 in Olympia Washington, son of John Cole Roper and Floy T. Arney; was raised by his step-father Pete Jensen who adopted him. Jerry is survived by his sweetheart, Edith Myrlene Fish who he married on 29 July 1957 in the Logan Temple. Together they had 5 children, Raelene (Dana) DeWitt, Ingrid (Tim) Ellenberger, Erin (David) Childs, Rob (Tara) Jensen and Denya (Dave) Crockett; with 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. While in his final studies to be a Methodist Minister, he discovered the Book of Mormon, was converted, and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Subsequently he served a mission to Southern States Mission as a young man.

Jerry served in the Army where he managed medical labs across the nation, while most of the time his real job was to serve as a military advisor in joint operations and was a Special Forces Officer pre Vietnam War. Upon leaving the military, he managed the lab at Payson Hospital for several years. He then joined the Brigham Young University staff, where he was asked by Paul H. Dunn to help young students to find their passion as a career counselor; and where he taught classes through the BYU Indian Education Program. He retired from BYU in 2012 after 41 years of service. He spent his spare time with family, working with the local CERT team, and providing Counter-Terrorism training for state agencies. Jerry was a man of compassion and caring, who touched many lives in all that he did and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park at 17111 1700W Bluffdale, Utah 84065 at 11:00 am on Monday the 23 of August 2021. His ashes will then be carried to the Mausoleum for internment.
