Eugene L Hughes

Eugene L Hughes was born to his goodly parents, Ethel Smith Hughes and Robert Morgan Hughes on September 28, 1930, in Bakersfield, California.

He was raised in a happy family with brothers and sisters Bob, Ray, Jay, Ethelyn, Geraldine, and Dick.

Gene was a schoolteacher and a successful businessman. Gene’s personal passion for natural healing ultimately led to the founding of Nature’s Sunshine Products. For nearly 49 years, he helped revolutionize the herbal and natural wellness industry and helped give rise to the modern supplement industry.

He was known for his beautiful smile and lovely singing voice. He was a guileless man who loved all people. He took excellent care of his family.

Gene married Kristine Fugal on September 18, 1959, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married 60 years before her passing in February 2020

He is survived by his children, Craig and Karen Hughes, Chris and Miyuki Hughes, Kent and Heidi Hughes Hastings, Rob and Sherston Hughes Faux, Matt and Julie Hughes King, Paul, and Jeni Hughes McCoard, and Blake and Kristi Hughes Dowding.

He is loved by his 37 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Gene loves his Heavenly Father and his Savior and hopes to live with them and his family together for eternity.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 7th at 11 AM at Nelson family mortuary in Provo. A viewing will precede the funeral at 10 AM.
