Erica Rodriguez

1935 — 2021

Mildred Ann Allen Ray “Millie,” age 86, died in Jerome, Idaho on November 4, 2021. Millie was born on October 20, 1935 in Redmond, Oregon to Mildred Green Allen and Edward Allen. She graduated from Crook County High school in Prineville, Oregon in 1953 and married William S. “Bill” Ray on January 9, 1954.

Millie was the cherished and spoiled baby of her family. She grew up on a Ranch near Paulina, Oregon, sixty miles from the nearest paved road. She fostered an interest in family history as she told her children and grandchildren many tales of her parent’s journey west, and about her life on a homestead.

Millie was blessed with a large, demanding family and chose to center her life on them. She encouraged each child with their special skills and talents, and sat through untold years of swimming lessons, 4H meetings, county and state fair events, girl’s camps, scout activities, ball games, band performances, dance performances, school programs, parent teacher conferences, church talks, choir performances, speeches, graduations, practices, stage productions, parades, and all manner of projects. Millie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in whatever community she lived, holding leadership positions in Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society. Her soothing alto voice was sought after whenever a choir gathered. Millie was a self-taught master seamstress. She could and did sew everything, even including a convertible car roof. She taught her daughters to sew and created another generation of master seamstresses. Millie always had a comfortable and organized home. She nurtured creativity and taught her children that they could do anything if they were willing to work hard enough. She had a sharp wit and made people laugh, right up to her final days. Millie will be greatly missed by her neighbors, friends, and family.

Millie is survived by all eight of her children; Tisha and Doug Harty, Becky and Dirk Clarkson, William A. and Cindy Ray, Melanie and Robb Millet, Samuel and Sherryn Ray, Kirsten and Steven Fullmer, Sara and Lee Norris, and Twilla and Tyler Mann as well as grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, one granddaughter and her husband, Bill.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 E 100 S, Jerome, Idaho. Graveside dedication will conclude at the Jerome Cemetery.
