Melvin Jesse Young
Melvin Jesse Young, 91, of Pleasant Grove passed away on September 28th at his home with loved ones near. Born in Fairview to Jesse LeRoy and Alice Dorthea Young, being the fourth of ten siblings. He and his family moved from Fairview to Provo in his youth. He graduated from Provo High School, attended trade school, and obtained a degree in Body and Fender repair. In his first marriage he had 5 children (Calvin, Julie, Lynette, Machelle, and Michael). He then married Deanna Carol Jones in 1979. They were blessed with 5 children Andrea (Mike) Gore, Jolene (Abraham) Yaksich, Jennifer (Vernon) Peterson, Gilbert, and Melanie (Colin) Craghead. He had a gift for oil painting and his paintings were given to his children and grandchildren. Melvin was able to create and fabricate anything he touched and came up with through imagination and ingenuity. He loved to travel, fish, hunt, and spend time with family. Camping trips were always an adventure. Melvin loved to take the “short cut,” this usually added several hours to our outings. He is survived by his wife of 42 years and 9 children, with one daughter passing last year. He had 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. His body was donated to U of U Body Donor Program. In lieu of flowers, a monetary donation to the University of Utah School of Medicine Department would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life event is being planned for next March to commemorate his life.
