Truman Martin Lyon (MARTY)

Oct 19, 2021

Crystal Cardenas

June 15, 1948 — October 10, 2021

Marty was born in Cedar City, Utah to Truman Harold Lyon and Billiejean Louise Martin. He passed away peacefully in his home in Layton, Utah with family by his side. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stephen James Vasey, his sister Trudy Louise Lyon, his daughter Tamara Jean Lyon Wernz and his daughter Dallas Ariel Johnson. Marty is survived by his two brothers; Gordon Lyon and Jann Vasey.

His children and grandchildren were his reason for living and striving to be the best he could be. He graduated from American Fork High School, joined the United States Navy and his employment as a Long Haul Truck Driver took him across the highways of this nation prior to settling in the Pawn business in the Payson area. He lived up and down the Wasatch Front. Marty, for all of you who knew him, was a character. He was in his true form the night before his passing we were all laughing and enjoying the fun loving person he was. As so many of us, Marty had deep rooted regrets as well as wonderful life experiences that he spoke of often. As with all of us, he spoke of how different he wished he would have done some things in his life, while others he would not have changed for the world. He loved life and would try about anything until his body would no longer allow it. He tried to get a free meal and a $50 gift card by eating an extremely spicy meal at an oriental restaurant he had to eat the whole meal in 45 minutes. I watched him fail as his face turned beet red and I think his eyeballs were even sweating. We did get a good laugh from it even though he could no longer feel his face.

We will all miss him deeply.

There will be a celebration of life please come and share your favorite memories. Celebration of Life, November 6th, 2021, 6pm to 8pm at the Davis Park Golf Course Banquet Room located at 1074 East Nichols Road, Fruit Heights, Utah 84037.
