Donna Violet Barbakos Points
1924 – 2021
Donna Violet Barbakos Points passed away on October 20, 2021 in Brigham City, Utah while residing at the Pioneer Care Center. She was 97 years old at the time of her passing. Donna was born on January 20, 1924 while her folks were living in the Vineyard-Provo area. Donna, along with her younger brother Chris Junior, lived with her parents, Chris K Barbakos and Minnie Sorenson Barbakos, in the Provo area. She graduated from Lincoln High School located on the Provo Bench, now known as Orem, Utah. Donna remained in the Provo area until she was married December 27, 1945.
Donna married Howard Milton Points, of the Donnelly, Idaho area, while she was still living in the Provo area. Joan Donna and Gary Howard were then born into the family. After several years, while Howard was in the military, living in various locations throughout the west the family settled in a new home in Orem, Utah. Donna and Howard raised their children in the Orem house, Donna remained in the house alone after Howard’s death, until she entered a nursing home.
Donna is survived by Joan and Bruce Mower, grandchild Mandy; grandchildren Jason and Holly Mower with great grandchildren Breanna, Noah, and Ryder. She is also survived by Gary and Margie Points, grandchildren Shannon and Jared Miller with great grandchildren Braxton, Breanna, Levi, and Riley; grandchildren Sunny and Brad Philips with great grandchildren Jaycee and Jackie; grandchildren Garrett and Rachelle Points with great grandchild Cooper; and grandchildren Amber and David Hansen with great grandchildren Ethan, Noah, Sawyer, and Wesley. Donna is also survived by her brother Chris Junior Barbakos alone with several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Howard passed away on July 27, 1994, at age 80, preceding Donna’s death by about 27 years.
Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active along with her brother Junior who lived across the street in Orem. They attended their local ward which was the Orem 14th Ward at one time.
Donna enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and making afghans and quilts. She played golf for several years with her lady friends at the Hobble Creek Golf Course. She enjoyed playing Bridge with various lady friends in the Orem area. Donna and Howard enjoyed camping in their travel trailer, Fish Lake and Moab were favorite camping destinations.
Donna will be laid to rest next to her husband Howard and her parents Chris and Minnie Barbakos at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah, under the supervision of Berg Mortuary.
