Josephine Rea Thompson (Dodie)

Age 89, Passed away peacefully, August 10, 2021, in Mapleton, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary C. Thompson.

She is survived by her 5 children, Gary C. Thompson Jr., Tommy S. Thompson (Pam), Lori T. Sheranian (Mark), Kim T. Hines (Andy), Wendy T. Del Carpio (Angel); 17 Grandchildren; 33 Great Grandchildren; Brother David Rea. Josephine was born in Salt Lake City, UT, to August and Ida Rea. She married Gary C. Thompson and they began their family in Salt Lake City, then the family moved to Holladay Utah where they lived for 55 years. They were married for 61 years. She was such a wonderful, kind mother to each of us, and gave completely of herself, so that our lives would be filled with joy, adventure, security, and love. Each night when she tucked us in bed, she would tell us wonder filled stories, from her childhood, in the quaint little town of Sunnyside, Utah. We never tired of hearing her stories. She was a wonderful cook and we enjoyed decades of delicious meals. Everyone from young to old, loved to visit Mom and Dad’s home. They always made everyone feel so welcome. A good time awaited anyone who visited them. She loved each of her many grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was always happy to see them. She missed dad so much, and we are comforted in the knowledge that they are together again.

A private family service will be held in Mapleton, UT.
