She graduated from West Valley HS and BYU. At both schools, she excelled in academics and student government.

On August 7, 1964, she married Gary Browning in the Idaho Falls Temple. Joan enjoyed sewing and became an excellent and prolific quiltmaker. She loved Relief Society and served three times as president.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Cascade Stake Center, 481 East Center Street, Orem, Utah. A visitation will be held at the Stake Center Thursday, September 30 from 6-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
