Ralph Edwin Hiss

Apr 15, 2022

Our beloved brother and uncle, Ralph Edwin Hiss, passed away April 8, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born May 9, 1949, in Tooele Utah to Newell and Marjorie Hiss. In his early youth, he moved with his family to Provo where he attended school and graduated from Provo High School in 1967. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served several tours in Vietnam, Korea and other locations during the Vietnam war. He received an honorable discharge May 28, 1974.

After returning home he worked as an auto mechanic for his Dad at Provo Auto Electric. Later he worked for Orem City Parks and Recreation from which he retired. Ralph loved to work with his hands and built his custom 1955 Chevy Belair which he entered in many car shows and earned first place. He enjoyed “cruisin” in his hot rod and riding his motorcycles. Even though he never married and had children of his own, he was a family man at heart and was loved by many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Ralphie.” He loved to show support by attending ball games and other events for family members. He enjoyed family vacations and spending time at the cabin. Ralph will be greatly missed by all of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Gina Hiss.

He is survived by his brothers Kevin (Maxine) Hiss and David Hiss and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be April 18, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Provo City Cemetery in the southeast corner. Military honors will be presented. Funeral directors will be Nelson Family Mortuary.
