Aug 2, 2022

1943 — 2022

David LeRoy Bauer, age 79, of Provo, Utah, passed away on July 22, 2022. He was born June 10, 1943, in Oakland, California, to Charles LeRoy and Alice May Lloyd Bauer, who raised him and his older brother Jerry in San Leandro. Dave and Connie Kirkman were married on December 20, 1968, in the Oakland California Temple, eventually settling in Provo where they raised their four daughters: Adrienne “Andi,” Danielle, Nicole, and Alexis.

Dave graduated from BYU with a BS in Sociology in 1968 and an MS in Sociology in 1974. He was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone from 1969-1971.

You may know Dave from his multiple decades working for the State of Utah as a social worker, retiring from the Dept of Human Services in 2006. Raise your hand if you know Dave from his years teaching Sociology at UVCC-UVSC-UVU as an adjunct professor. Many of you know Dave as a ski instructor from the slopes at Sundance and Snowbird, founder and head coach of the Utah Valley Ski Education Foundation, race coach with the BYU Ski Team, or as a fellow powder lover. You may have been one of Dave’s riding buddies, as a “roadie,” on a mountain bike, or more recently, kicking back on a recumbent trike with Wasatch Adaptive Sports. Or you may know Dave from his years of proudly wearing the inescapable fur from his “big dogs.”
