Ina Jean Miller Lamb

Aug 23, 2022

1931 – 2022

Ina Jean Miller Lamb left this life on the afternoon of Saturday, August 20, 2022 after a quick battle with very aggressive lower GI Cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones and able to spend the last few weeks of her life sharing stories, talking, giving hugs and kisses to all around her. Our family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of Love shown to Jean in her final weeks. She was visited, called, sent letters and loved on by many who she loved. She was truly cherished and will be so missed.

Jean was born August 24, 1931 in Richfield, Utah, to Joseph Claude Miller and Greta Farnsworth. She was the oldest of 4 girls and blazed the trail with her dynamic, loving, stubborn personality. She survived Rheumatic Fever at the age of 3 which kept her bed-ridden for a year. When she was 8 years old her appendix ruptured leaving her very ill and resulting in a gangrene infection. Her life was saved by the power of a priesthood blessing. This illness continued to affect her throughout her life including a fight with infertility. Through challenge and heartbreak Jean never let anything get in the way of her loving personality or what she wanted to accomplish.

Jean graduated from the Old Jordan High School and started working at a restaurant across the street. It was there she met the love of her life Ross V Lamb while he was home on leave from the Marine Corp. When he returned from WW2 they were married on November 15, 1949 in Midvale, Utah. They were blessed to add two sons to this union Scott and Shaun. The family was later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. Jean and Ross also had the blessing of bringing a young girl into their home who became their bonus daughter Janet. Jean always wanted a “gaggle” of children. Though she wasn’t physically able to have as many children as she would have liked she made every child around feel like they were “hers.”

Jean worked at the American Fork hospital as well as at a Medical lab in South Salt Lake. She was always willing to work for her family, but spent most of her life as a homemaker. Jean loved her family, nature, music, reading, and the theater. In their early marriage Ross, Jean and their two boys lived in Livermore, California for Ross’ work with Lawrence Radiation Laboratories. They were transferred to Las Vegas, Nevada and then moved back to Utah to be closer to their families. They finally settled in Lehi, Utah living in the “old church” on 500 W for almost 60 years.

Jean had an unmatchable testimony for the gospel and loved to share her knowledge. She served in many callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life: Stake Primary President, Stake Young Women’s President, Stake Relief Society President, many ward callings as well as a temple worker for over 10 years. Her life was an example of service to the Lord. Jean loved to study. She spent hours each day studying the “Come Follow Me” program and was always known for her insightful comments in discussions at church, at home, on a walk, wherever she was. Jean loved to learn and learning about the gospel was a top priority.

Jean had a big heart and loved people. When you met Jean you were her friend, she wanted to know about you and truly cared for and wanted the best for every individual. She is known for being the first to greet new families at church. Saying a welcoming “hello” helped everyone feel like they belonged there. Jean spent her later years studying and attending as many events for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that she could. Grandma Lamb will always hold a special place in the hearts of her progeny.

Jean was preceded in death by her sweetheart of 63 years Ross V Lamb, daughter-in-law Diane Evans Lamb, grandson Elijah James Lamb, great granddaughter Kynslee Jean Lamb. She is survived by her 2 sons, Charles Scott (Janet) Lamb, Shaun Lamb, and daughter Janet (Al) Matthews, 12 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.
