Roland Oliphant

1929 — 2022
Roland Elgin Oliphant, 93, passed away on August 24, 2022. He was the third of 11 children born to Elgin Oliphant and Lucy Druceal Toone on July 8, 1929, in Salt Lake City. He married Yvonne Joy Grinnell 26 Nov 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Roland is a navy veteran of the Korean war. He served a mission in the Northwestern States Mission. He taught history and geography at American Fork High school. After retiring Roland volunteered in various roles with family history including a mission with his wife to Leeds England.
He is survived by his children Charles (Mary), Lorraine (Reed) Olsen, Arnold (Lynette), Paul (Mie), William (Micki), Joy (Gaylen) Laudie, James (Marylin), Mary (Kyle) Severson, Louis (Rebecca), David (Shantelle), 54 grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne and siblings Clyde, T Lawrence, Nada Davies, Virginia Peterson and Gineal Stott .
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday 27 August at the LDS church located at 1541 N 1300 W St., Pleasant Grove, UT. Interment was at East Lawn Memorial Hills. See olpinmortuary.com for more information.
