Deanna Davis

Jul 8, 2022

Deanna Gai Davis, maiden name Dimick, life-long resident of Orem, Utah, passed away in her own bed, surrounded by loved ones, on July 7, 2022.

Born on September 30, 1943, in Orem, Utah, she was the third child of four. Her idyllic childhood, spent romping barefoot in her parents strawberry fields, climbing apple trees and riding her horse, Sheik, gave her a strong foundation in seeking the wonder and perfection in ordinary perfect moments, which is a legacy she has left to those who survive her.

Deanna graduated Orem High School in 1961. She then went on to earn both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Brigham Young University, following in the footsteps of her parents who both earned degrees from that institution, making the importance of education another family legacy.

Deanna first worked in a sewing factory, then as a beautician having graduated from beauty school, a side line of work that she continued throughout her life, cutting and coloring the hair of scores of family members assembly line style during late night sessions around her kitchen table.

However, her most significant professional accomplishment is the profound foundation in education she devotedly prepared for the hundreds of little children she taught to read serving as a Kindergarten Teacher for decades at Orem Elementary School. She had a talent and skill for her vocation of teaching. She spent hours and hours after school, preparing lessons, creating bulletin boards, and in all ways engaging in that calling.

She will live on as an example to her family of true love and partnership to her much-beloved husband Glen, as a shining example of motherhood to her daughter, Heather, and as an archetype of the joy and delight of grandmother-hood to her three grandchildren Madison, Anthony and Alexander.

Deanna is preceded in death by her dear parents, Cecil Ira Dimick and Mildred Housley Dimick; two brothers, Dale Dimick and John Christian Dimick; and her beloved sweetheart and husband Glen LaVon Davis.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, Deanna has now been received into the embrace of her Father in Heaven with an exclamation of “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

A visitation will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, 12 1:00 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Graveside service will begin at 1:30 pm with burial next to her Husband and parents in American Fork Cemetery, 600 North 100 East, American Fork, Utah.
