Melinda Palmer

Melinda Palmer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away from cancer on July 15, 2022. Melinda was born on January 6, 1962 in Prosser, Washington to Boyd and Donna Cardon. She was the youngest of 7 children. Melinda grew up in Prosser and Grandview, WA and Hood River, OR, working with her family on their farm and in their orchard. She graduated high school in 1980. She then traveled to Provo, UT to study at Brigham Young University. After her children were born, she studied to be a Radiology Technician through Weber State University and graduated from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center’s School of Radiologic Technology in 2001.

Melinda worked as a Radiologic Technologist for Intermountain Healthcare for over 20 years, at multiple locations. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and happily served in many church callings. Melinda loved spending time with her family, playing games, gardening, creating art and completing puzzles.

Melinda was a dedicated and supportive mother to her four children, and an integral part of her grandchildren’s lives. She took great pleasure in spending time with them, shopping for them, and attending their various recitals, games and performances.

Melinda battled with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) for over 2 years , her daughter, Kristen, became her sole helper, companion and caregiver. Despite her many treatments and struggles, she prioritized communication with her family and often video-chatted with her granddaughters. Melinda will be dearly missed by many family, friends, and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Boyd Cardon and Donna B Van Leuven, and her brother Darrell. She is survived by her son Brandon (and Brooke), son Kevin (and Paula), daughter Kristen, son John (and Karissa), granddaughters Evie, Alex, April, Charlee, Kaley, Rylie, Isla, Maya and Oaklyn, brothers Michael, Dennis and Wayne, sisters Geneal and Jolene and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Friday, July 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 1006 East 200 South, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, July 21, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. ­ 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. Another visitation will be Friday morning at the church from 9:45 a.m. ­ 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660.
