Jose Horace Montoya, our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandpa and Friend passed away peacefully at his home in Springville, UT on July 19th, 2022, after a short battle with leukemia.

Horace was born on Oct. 7th, 1947 in Price, UT, to his parents Jose Maria Montoya and Eleanor Mercure Montoya. They lived in Rains, UT and later moved to Spring Glen, UT. Horace attended school in Carbon County starting at Spring Glen Elementary, then Helper Jr. High and graduated from Carbon High School in Price.

Horace had many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed playing golf and watching and coaching little league games. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. One of his biggest loves was motorcycles. He was great at building and repairing Harleys and of course riding them. He was involved with numerous biker clubs through the years, including the Sundowners where he was president for some time. He later joined A.B.A.T.E.(American Bikers Aiming Towards Education) where he also rose to the President title. Later on he had the opportunity to join B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse) where he took on the title of National Ambassador and had the opportunity to travel around the U.S. and meet with other B.A.C.A. chapters. He spent a lot of his personal time being a voice for abused children whether it be by showing up on his Harley for home visits or attending their court dates to support the children in every aspect he could. He later joined the Sundowners once again where he spent some of his last riding years with them.

Horace’s friend list was endless because he always made friends wherever he went and his contagious smile drew them in. He had so many years of amazing memories from partying with them all. He worked at Geneva Steel for 30 years until their shutdown and had made many friends throughout his time there as well.
