Ferron Lee Andersen was born on July 10, 1931, in Howell, Utah to Jean Pickett and William Lee Andersen. He passed away on February 27, 2022, in Orem Utah. He married Stenna Turley on August 29, 1958, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, Stenna, and their six children: Lynnette Larsen (Michael), Stan (Jacque), David, Darv (Pamela), Linda McCoy (Dave) and Denise Critchfield (Troy). He is also survived by one sister, Jeanine Mickelsen, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ferron attended Bear River High School in Blackfoot, Idaho. He also attended Ricks College and received college degrees from Utah State University and the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. Ferron served a mission in Western Germany. He served 6 months active duty in the US Army and then 8 years as a Captain in the Army Reserve. He taught 4 years at the University of Illinois and then 30 years in the Zoology Department at BYU. He was passionate about establishing the Andersen Diabetes Fund at BYU in memory of his sister, Linda, who died of the disease. He did significant research in public health and parasitic diseases in several western states, China, and Morocco. After retiring in 1999, Ferron and Stenna served full-time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Toronto, Canada, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 4,2022, at 11:00 AM in the LDS Chapel located at 762 East 1200 North, Orem. A viewing will be held at the same location prior to the services from 9:30 ­ 10:45 AM. Burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
