James Healy Palmer
1944 — 2022
James (Jim) Healy Palmer passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022, his 78th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on March 1, 1944, to James Ellis Palmer and Minnie Louisa Healy, in Bluffdale, Utah. He married and was sealed to his high school sweetheart, Vickie Lee Bullock, on July 18, 1963, in the Manti Utah Temple. They happily raised nine children together. Vickie passed away on January 5, 2016. Jim married Virginia (Ginny) Scholes on April 14, 2018, and their home is in Vineyard, UT.
Service to his family, church, and community was a priority to Jim, and he always served with much love. Jim was a talented mechanic, working for the Army, Geneva Steel, Woodard Curran, and in a shop he built behind his house where he fixed countless cars for family, friends and neighbors. On family vacations, he would often be found on the side of the road helping strangers whose cars had broken down. In recent years he has also been known to take neighbors and friends on drives who couldn’t drive themselves. His children, grandchildren (33), great-grandchildren (15), and many others were often blessed by his devoted attention, wisdom, and many unforgettable adventures. He adored his grandchildren and made each of them feel like his favorite. Jim loved spending time in the mountains while hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, and especially spotting animals throughout the year. He knew Mount Timpanogos like the back of his hand.
He will be missed by his surviving family; wife Ginny; his children, Todd (Paula), Heidi Jenkins, Ben (Tonya), Beth Young (Brett), Sam (Deana), Andy (Natalee), Dave (Andrea), and Deanne (Geovanny); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Ellis (Patty); and many other extended family and friends. He was joyfully welcomed by those who preceded him in death, including his parents; his sisters, Joy Cornish and Carol McClain; his wife, Vickie; his son, Michael; and his son-in-law Pat Jenkins.
