Richard B Frampton
1941 – 2022
Richard B Frampton passed away on February 24, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Richard (Dick) was born on June 9th, 1941, in Provo, Utah to Burton B Frampton and Thelma Pearl West Frampton. He attended elementary schools at Joaquin, Wasatch, and Grandview. He attended Farrer Jr. High and graduated from Provo High School in 1959. While at PHS, he participated in football and basketball, was Senior Class President, and was one of the four football captains in his senior year. He attended college at the University of Utah and graduated in 1964.
His first jobs were working at his dad’s car business, Frampton Motor Co. (Nash), and on his dad’s farms. Later, he would lead a long career in the commercial insurance industry working in Utah for American Agencies, Fireman’s Fund, The Home, CIGNA, United Pacific/Reliance, Transwestern General Agency, and finishing up with State Farm in Bainbridge Island, Washington.
He also loved to spend time at the family cabin in American Fork Canyon with family. He liked listening to old-time radio shows and enjoyed fishing and even caught a few fish on occasion. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in Ward and Stake callings loving his time serving the young men.
He married Judy Christiansen in 1959 and raised two children, Jamie Frampton Bowers, and Kurt Frampton. Dick and Judy later divorced.
In June of 1991, He married Sally Biele Layton who also had a career in insurance. Through their careers and marriage, they worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, Phoenix, Az., and Seattle, WA., and Bainbridge Island, WA. In, 2015, after living on Bainbridge for 13 years, Sally and Dick returned to Salt Lake City to enjoy and live out their retirement years. Sally passed away March 7, 2021.
Dick is survived by his two children, Jamie Frampton Bowers (Greg) and Kurt Frampton (Amy), and three grandchildren, Whitney Bates (David), Jordan Bowers (Paige), and Morgann Collins (Sam), and his sister Mary Helen Hyde (Ron).
A celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at LaJolla Groves in Provo, Utah from 4-7 pm. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Pleasant Grove City Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
