Gary William Tate

Gary William Tate passed away on Wednesday September 28th 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Gary, 84, was surrounded by loving family members when he passed.

Gary was born to Jack and Flo Tate on May 7, 1938, in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Gary served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Africa at the age of 22. After returning home he met and married his first wife Joyce Stevenson in September 1963. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Orem, Utah and grew their family with 4 beautiful daughters. Janis Tate, Dawn-Mari Furner (Loren), Shauna Bentsen (Mike Moore), and Lesley Shepherd (Keith).

Gary started working at the tender age of 11 delivering newspapers for the Calgary Herald. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1968. He settled into his career in real estate as a Broker for Caldwell Banker in Provo Utah. Gary continued working until he, and his wife Joyce, served their mission in Zimbabwe Africa in 2006-2007.

Gary met his second wife Beverly Wilson in the December of 2009, and they married the following year in Washington State. Beverly brought 3 more daughters into the family, Wendy Lang, Leslie Kyle and Amber Allen (Corey).

Anyone who knew Gary knew that he was the most loving son, father, husband, and grandfather a family could ask for. Gary was predeceased by his parents Jack and Flo, his brother Jimmy, sister Lorraine, and his beloved wife Joyce in 2008 . He is survived by his brother Dale, his loving wife Beverly, his children Janis, Shauna & Mike, Dawn-Mari & Loren, and Lesley & Keith, his grandchildren Emmie Bentsen (Zach), Samantha Shepherd, Paige Shepherd, Christian Furner (Brie), Alyssa Barlow (Kelson), Zachary Furner, Logan Furner, and Alex Furner and his great-grandchildren Chloe Zimmerman, Bentsen Zimmerman, Luke Zimmerman, Nyah Barlow, Charlotte Zimmerman, Greyson Furner, and Lincoln Furner. As well as Beverly’s daughters and their families.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to the address Provided for the service after 2:00 p.m.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday October 11th at 6:00 pm. Services start at 7:00. The service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 365 South 900 East Orem Utah 84097.
