Janet Lundgren Daines
On Tuesday, October 19, 2022, Janet Lundgren Daines of Provo, Utah, died peacefully, surrounded by her family. She loved Jesus Christ, the temple, friends, travel, reading, serving, Diet Coke, the smell of lavender, Lake Tahoe, butter, beautiful art, good food, gospel study, and her children and grandchildren.
Janet was born November 10, 1939 in Prineville, Oregon, to Fritz Hjalmar and Myrtle Riner Lundgren. She grew up in a small town in Eastern Oregon (LaGrande). When she was 10, Janet was invited to primary, she came home afterwards and announced to her family that she’d found the church she wanted to join. She and her parents were later baptized members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent the rest of her life serving with her family in the church.
She and her husband served in several different home and BYU wards and stakes. She left Provo with her husband and 7 young children to lead the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission in 1979. The highlight of her church service was six years serving with Bob in the Provo Temple presidency.
She spent her life in loyal devotion to God and family.
She is survived by her seven children (Michelle Craig (Boyd); Rob Daines (Ruth Ann); David Daines (Julie); Paul Daines (Tina); Chris Daines (Maren); Kathryn Davis (Steve); Emily Crane (Bret)), 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, at 11:00 AM at the chapel on 3050 N. Mojave Lane, Provo Utah. The viewing will be held that morning from 10:00-10:45 at the church. An evening viewing will be held Friday, October 28th, from 3:00-5:00pm at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Ave. Provo.
