Beverly Fay Fredrickson Pendergrass
4/4/1936 – 9/22/2022
Beverly Fay Fredrickson Pendergrass passed away due to heart failure on September 22, 2022. Bev was born in Great Falls, Montana to George and Helen Fredrickson April 4, 1936. She attended schools there and graduated from Great Falls High School with academic honors in 1954. She was offered two scholarships from Montana State College and the University of Montana. She opted to get married and raise a family instead. In 1955, she married Donald Pendergrass and together they raised two daughters, Kathy (Janzen) and Sherry (Dittmann). In 1958, they built their home in Great Falls.
In 1961, Don was offered a teaching job at Central Utah Vocational School in Provo, Utah. The family moved to Provo, where Don spent his career teaching at what would become Utah Valley University. Bev began her work career when her daughters entered middle school. She began as a secretary at Geneva Elementary School and later was their librarian. In 1970, Geneva Steel hired Bev to become a secretary of the chem lab. When the steel plant closed, Bev moved on to Utah Valley Hospital where she became the neonatology/perinatology office manager. She retired in 1992.
During her 30 years of retirement, she worked as the office manager for three years for Habitat for Humanity. Later on, she joined her daughter, Sherry, and Don in working at the Orem Community Church, where they put in a garden. They were ably assisted in that endeavor by members of the 4th Ward of the LDS Stonebridge Stake. The one-acre, irrigated garden produced three to five tons of produce annually for a decade for the needy. Recently, she and her husband have enjoyed watching their family grow in leadership activities and other responsibilities.
The family want to thank the members of the Valeo Hospice group who have taken such great care during her illness. In addition, we want to thank neighbors and friends who have actively supported us in our care for Beverly.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Beverly at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2022 at the LDS Church Relief Society Room, 700 East 445 South, Orem, Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
