Maxine Duke Miller
Maxine Duke Miller, 83, passed away on Monday, April 17th, 2023. She was in good health at 9:00 that morning. She finished her breakfast and suddenly announced that she wanted to go home. The aids took her to her bed where she closed her eyes and soon passed peacefully into eternity.
She was born on February 1, 1940, in Provo, Utah to Loran Wells Duke and Mary ‘Marie’ Edwards (Gurr) Duke. She was the eighth of nine children.
Maxine was raised in Orem, Utah. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah and attended Brigham Young University. She loved singing, dancing, and acting. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Primary Chorister, teacher, and activity leader for much of that time.
She met her husband Dale Brady Miller while organizing a church dance. They were married for time and for all eternity on December 2, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they brought ten children into the world, six boys and four girls. Her youngest son, Andrew died while a child from Leukemia. Dale died on March 13, 2017, from pneumonia. Survivors include Stephen and Edna Miller, Paul Miller and Sharyl Cushing (divorced), Brent and Letia Miller, Karen Miller Burgess, Connie Miller Stevens, Judy and Lorne Behrend, Aaron and Jackie Miller, Julie and Brian Prothero, and Nathan and Dawna Miller. She had thirty-six grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren at the time of her passing.
Friends and family are invited to come and pay their respects from 8:45 to 9:45 on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary at the American Fork Chapel, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah 84003.
Funeral services will follow thereafter at 10:00 a.m. She will be interred in the Orem City Cemetery at 1520 N. 800 E. Orem Utah 84097.
She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and just a few feet from her son, Andrew.
