Don W Bateman

Don W. Bateman, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Lehi, Utah. He was born in Lehi, Utah on January 14, 1934 to David Bernell Bateman and Hazel Charlotte Peck. He was the youngest of five children.
He attended schools in Lehi, Utah and graduated from Lehi High School. He worked on the family poultry farm and dry farm with his brothers. He was lifelong resident of Lehi. He married Ellen May Calton August 17, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four children.
He loved and served his country in the Utah National Guard for 42 years. He was proud to be Veteran and served in Operation Desert Storm. After his retirement he worked at various elementary schools as a custodian and enjoyed all the children he served. He enjoyed spending time beautifying his yard and spending time with his family. He taught us the value of hard work and service. His last eighteen months were spent at Highland Glen Assisted Living/Memory Care. The family would like to thank the staff for their kind and loving care.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Together with his sweetheart he served a service mission at the Lindon Cannery.
He is survived by his children: Jayne (Rick) Pugh, Keith (Margaret) Bateman, Gaye (Doug) Beecroft and Molly Bateman. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 28 (with one more on the way) great grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law Doreen Bateman. He was proceeded in death by his wife May, parents, brothers LaVar, Kenneth, Ralph and sister LaVee Barnhart.
A viewing will be held on Thursday December 7, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 E Main Street, Lehi. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sego Lily Ward Chapel 880 N. 700 E. Lehi, with a viewing from 9:00- 9:45 am. Interment with military honors in the Lehi City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Wing Mortuary.
