Nancy Huntington Phillips

Dec 12, 2023

1939 – 2023

Nancy Huntington Phillips passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023, in American Fork, Utah. She was born on August 14, 1939, in Eugene, Oregon. Nancy was the 6th of 9 children raised by Edwin Cummings Huntington and Helen McAlister. In 1962, Nancy graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. In 1966, she met her pen pal, Delbert Ross Phillips and with a leap of faith was married a few weeks later on January 21, 1966, in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Nancy gave birth to two sons, David and Ross Phillips, and she was also an adoptive mother to Libonas Hancock and Yahya Hassen. Nancy and Delbert had 46 beautiful years of earthly marriage, which was filled with family, faith in God, and service to others. Delbert passed away in 2012 due to complications related to cerebral palsy, and Nancy endured 11 additional years of missing her husband and dealing with the effects of dementia. Through it all, Nancy maintained a grateful disposition and was kind and generous to all she met. Through the grace of God and atonement of His son, Jesus Christ, we look forward to one day being reunited with Nancy and Delbert.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Phillips and her son, David Phillips. She is survived by son, Ross Phillips (Jodi Phillips); daughter, Libonas Hancock (Lowel Hancock); and son, Yahya Hassen (Nabat Hassen), 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Thursday, December 14, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N American Fork, Utah. An additional viewing will then be held at the same location on Friday, December 15, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am, after which the funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. The burial will take place at the Historical Springville Cemetery at 200 West 400 South, Springville, Utah.
