SHARON WARD CHRISTENSEN
Sharon Luella Ward Christensen of Provo was reunited with her husband January 29, 2023. She was born in Tetonia, ID on June 20, 1936, the eldest child of Clifford Wilmer Ward and Olive Almeda Campbell Ward. Sharon spent her childhood years in Richfield, ID where her family owned and operated a cheese factory.
Upon graduation from High School, Sharon moved to Provo, graduating from BYU in 1958 with the second graduating class of the Nursing Program. For many years she worked at the Clark Clinic. Sharon used these skills throughout her life and while serving at the Provo MTC. Sharon met her husband Richard Stansfield Christensen (Dick) her sophomore year of college. They were married on December 13th, 1958 in her family home and were later sealed in the Provo Temple. Together they enjoyed weekends at the cabin, but most memorable was the time spent traveling with their children.
Sharon and Dick built their home in Edgemont where they lived for over 60 years. Here they raised their four children, Bryant, Denise, Dennis and Serena. Family was the most important thing to Sharon. She filled their lives with simple treasured memories such as working in the yard, bottling produce from the garden, playing cards, and doing puzzles. The grandchildren will miss her sincere interest in their lives. We will all miss her witty humor, sour dough waffles, books for Christmas, turkey dinners, homemade rolls with raspberry jam and hugs. Along with her husband she ran and operated the family business for over 50 years and was a “true blue” BYU football fan.
Sharon was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and deeply loved her friends in the Edgemont Seventh ward. She served in many callings as well as serving a two and a half year mission at the Lindon Cannery with her husband.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Dick, her parents, and her brothers, Jay and Lowell. Sharon will be missed by her four children Bry (Cheri) Christensen of Orem, Denise Durrans of Orem, Dennis (Lila) Christensen of Elk Ridge, and Serena (Mark) Warner of Provo, her brother Dallas Ward, and her sister and best friend Joyce Ward, her 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren with two more to be born soon.
Sharon’s celebration of life will be Friday, February 10th at 11:00 am at Nelson Family Mortuary in Provo with viewing at 10:00 am. For Zoom link see Nelson’s online obituary at nelsonmortuary.com.
