Stephen Jay Noyes
1943 – 2023
Stephen Jay Noyes, 79, of Springville, Utah, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Lehi, Utah from Alzheimer’s. He was born July 18, 1943 in Salina, Utah, to Alice Denison and Joseph Reed Noyes, the fourth of four children.
Stephen was a farm boy raised in Ephraim, Utah in humble circumstances with love and righteousness. He graduated from Manti High School, Snow College, and Utah State University with a masters degree in Civil Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. Stephen was a Water Quality Specialist for the Bureau of Reclamation for over 40 years, helping build and maintain reservoirs.
Stephen married Martha Jean Wallace December 18, 1965 in the Manti Utah Temple. They were blessed with four children: Angela Lynn Noyes Lee, Eric Reed Noyes, Devin Jay Noyes, and Clinton Sidney Noyes. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors and playing chess.
Stephen was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man he served as a missionary in the Great Lakes Mission. Together with Jean, they served as temple workers in the Provo Utah Temple. Stephen served as Ward Clerk, in Sunday School, in Priesthood, in the Bishopric, and as a home teacher.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Jean, his four married children, and 15 grandchildren.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, LaVonna Noyes and LaDonna Broadhead, his brother, Joseph Noyes Jr., and a granddaughter.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Springville LDS Church located at 2379 E. 1100 S., with a viewing from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be at Ephraim Park Cemetery Saturday afternoon.
