Linda Ann Scott Bridges

Linda Ann Scott Bridges, 82, passed away at home July 25, 2023 in Provo, Utah,
She was born June 2, 1941 to Kenneth Scott and Adeline Sorenson in Provo, Utah. Ken drowned in Deer Creek Reservoir just a year later, leaving Addie with three young daughters. Surrounded by many loving relatives, Linda grew up in Provo but was raised on the Scott dairy farm among the cousins, chickens, cows and Grandma’s garden.
Although they spent most of their growing up years within a mile of each other in Lakeview, Linda met the love of her life less than a block from home in Provo. Linda married Gary Bridges on April 15, 1959 in Orem, Utah. They were together for nearly 62 years, always a team and rarely apart. They had two daughters and a son: Pamela Lynn, Linda Michelle and Gary Scott, all named for their mother.
The couple bought Linda’s childhood house and spent the next six decades constantly improving their home and yard. Linda claimed the title as the longest living member of the old Pioneer Ward. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Linda graduated from Provo High School. She always worked outside the home to help provide for her family. She was a teacher with Head Start program, dispatcher for Yellow Cab Company, custodian for LDS Church, the cleanroom lady at Signetics and lunch lady at Dixon Middle School.
At her mother’s side, Linda learned to knit, crochet, embroidery, quilt, sew and tat. She always had a project at hand and gifted many with her handiwork. Linda was a down-to-earth, independent, loving woman. She taught her children to look at all sides of a situation because very story has at least two of them, if not more. Linda shared her love of books and reading with her kids, a hobby that developed into a lifetime habit for all of them.
Linda and Gary enjoyed exploring the great outdoors, especially the canyons of the Wastach Mountains, Utah’s back roads and wide-open spaces of the American West. On any given Friday, the trailer was loaded and they’d hit the road often with other neighborhood kids in tow. Later in life they were active members of Utah Good Sams camping group for over 30 years. Linda was always bringing a rock home from their travels to put in her blooming rock garden.
Linda is survived by her daughter Linda Michelle Bridges and son Gary Scott (Cheryl Bates) Bridges, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by her husband Gary, daughter Pamela Lynn, son-in-law Paul Dillenbeck, grandson Richard Dillenbeck, and sisters Jane (George) Cunningham and Karen (Jay) Robb.
As per her wishes, there will be a graveside service at Provo City Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com
