Elaine Piper Bradford

Jun 6, 2023

January 25, 1932 — May 31, 2023

Elaine Piper Bradford, 91, died peacefully at her home in Spanish Fork on May 31, 2023 with her family in attendance.

She was born January 25, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA to Paul Emil Piper and Rebecca Coltrin Piper. She lived with her parents, sister, Martha and brother, Frank and her grandmother in Ventura, and Oak View, CA. She moved to Spanish Fork when she was 16, and graduated in 1950 from Spanish Fork High School. She went on to attend BYU.

On July 21, 1952, Elaine and David Bradford were married in the LDS temple in Manti Utah.

Elaine was a homemaker and helped her husband run the family farm. For decades Elaine and David owned and managed several rental homes in Spanish Fork. She studied real estate at UTC and earned her real estate license. Elaine was elected to serve for eight years as the Utah County Constable and earned her Peace Officer Standards and Training certification.

Elaine was a hard worker throughout her long life. As a very young girl, she and her sister worked in the apricot drying sheds in California and as young teens they worked at the Ventura Public Library. Hard work was required to rear eight kids and left mom little time for idle entertainment. She took enjoyment in sewing and was an accomplished seamstress, even designing her own patterns. She enjoyed rehabbing antique furniture and lovingly restored her beautiful 110 year-old home.

Her greatest accomplishment was her love and devotion to her large family. She kept her children fed and clothed and made sure they got college educations.

Elaine was devoted to her beloved parents and siblings, and to her many life-long friends. She helped many of her renters over the years as they faced health or personal issues. She was a wonderful example of compassion and giving.

Elaine is survived by her eight children: Rebecca Bradford; David Roy; Paul James (Wendy); Glade Franklin; Jennette (Scott) Hicken; John Roger (Julia); Ronald Lynn; and Nancy Ann (Alfred Lagda) Bradford; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Elaine is preceded in death by: her baby daughter, Minnie Elaine; her husband; parents; and her sister and brother.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

Starting at $4.32/week.
