Linda Dien Parker

Linda Dien Parker, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 20 in Provo, Utah. Linda was born in San Francisco, California on March 23, 1945. She was adopted as a baby by Halmar John Lauronen and Ardiena Schutte. Linda grew up in San Francisco in the days when people dressed up in heels and gloves to go downtown. During her high school years, Linda worked part-time in sales at the White House, a high-end department store in San Francisco. The poise Linda learned growing up in that environment remained with her throughout her life.
Linda attended BYU, earning a degree in French and English with a Secondary Teaching Certificate. She then taught at East High School in Salt Lake City. During her time at BYU, she met and married the love of her life, Ross Berrey Parker. Together they became the parents of 5 wonderful children, Dien, Devin, Chad, Brandi and Cameron. Linda was a wonderful mom and successfully taught her children to care for themselves and to serve others.
As the children grew, Linda sought employment at BYU and for many years served as a counselor in the Advisement Center for the College of Education. After retirement she served with her husband at the LDS Employment Center in Provo.
Linda loved her family. She sewed most of the clothes her children wore. Linda loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a wonderful dancer. She loved to read, watch old movies, and to laugh until she cried.
Linda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings throughout her life. She had a testimony of the restored gospel and was adept at recognizing and following the promptings of the Spirit.
Linda is survived by her husband, her five children and eight grandchildren, Funeral services will be held at the Orem Utah Canyon View 7th Ward, 575 East 800 North, Orem, Utah on Friday, June 23, 2023. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 A. M. to 10:45 A.M. The funeral will start at 11:00 A.M.
