David Gordon Sandvik

David Gordon Sandvik, was born April 3,1943 to Gordon E. Sandvik and Mildred Viola Pratt Sandvik in Bellingham Washington. He died June 13, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. In 1950 his parents moved to Edgemont, a suburb of Provo,Utah. David was the oldest of 4 children. Reneà Denise Sandvik (Warnick), Ronald Jay Sandvik, Aaron Edward Sandvik. Since Edgemomt was in the county, David went to Orem High School class of 1961, where he played sports, mainly basketball. He also was in the band and played the trombone. He was on the debate team.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to Oslo, Norway. He went on to BYU and graduated in pre-med, then to the University of Graz Austria and then University of Vienna Medical School where he received his M.D. as a general surgeon. He then received his PHD in Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic and did his internship at University of Utah. He moved to Washington state and opened up a practice at the University of Washington, Seattle, where he specialized in deleterious cases such as Ted Bundy.
He was fluent in several languages, Norwegian, French, Spanish and German. Mostly self taught! He maintained his languages by taking classes; it was in a German class where he met and married Irene Sandvik. They have a daughter Clarisse. David had many talents, some were playing piano, composing his own music and singing Frank Sinatra songs. He loved the Arts and loved to travel! He was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Jay Sandvik (Ronnie), Gordon E. Sandvik, and Mildred Pratt Sandvik. David was a gentle quiet soul and will be missed!
