Douglas Paulson

Springville — Douglas Duane Paulson, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, at the age of 77. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless cherished memories. After bravely battling respiratory failure caused by complications from cancer radiation recovery, Douglas found eternal rest, reuniting with his loving parents, cherished family, and dear friends.

Douglas was the son of Lyle Paulson and Mabel Kilian Paulson, he was born on August 16, 1945, in Minneapolis, MN, as the second of five children. Douglas spent his early years in Minnesota before moving with the family to Mapleton, UT. Eventually, in his later years he settled in Springville, Utah, where he resided until his passing.

He graduated from Springville High School in 1963. In his younger years, Douglas worked at PHD Trucking, a local business in Spanish Fork, where he formed lifelong friendships. After serving in the Army National Guard for six years, he joined the crew of Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe, where he dedicated 30+ years of service before retiring.

Douglas possessed a remarkable talent for working with his hands and had a knack for fixing almost anything. He found great joy and spent many hours rebuilding cars in the shop at Auto Brokers. He enjoyed cruising on boats, riding ATVs, and sharing a toast with the guys. Many memorable moments were shared on the waters of Strawberry, where he showcased his skills as an avid fisherman.

Known for his incredible work ethic, Douglas was admired for his generosity and selflessness. He always prioritized the needs of others above his own. His warmest moments were spent in the company of family and friends, sharing laughter and stories.

Douglas is survived by his children, Robyn Brown, Tammy (Rick) Stabile, and Bryan (Connie) Reynolds. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Joanne Paulson Forsyth, Jannette (Kent) Smith, and Cindy Davenport (Michael Kahut), as well as his brother, David (Sharon) Paulson. Douglas will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at the Provo Elks Lodge, located at 1000 S. University Ave. Provo, UT on Monday, June 19, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The memorial will include a special Veterans flag ceremony, which will commence at 12:30 PM.
