Joseph Dar Cloward
Joseph Dar Cloward, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, peacefully passed away at the age of 78 on September 27, 2023, at his home in La Verkin, Utah. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Dar was born on December 16, 1944, in Roosevelt, Utah, to his parents, Loran and Florence Gurr Cloward. He was the youngest of five siblings and spent his formative years in the close-knit community of Neola, Utah. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and pursued higher education at Dixie University in St. George, Utah, and Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah.
A man of faith, Dar dedicated a significant part of his life to serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South West British Mission, England. He also bravely served his country as a US Army veteran during the Vietnam War, stationed in South Korea.
On June 27th, 1969, Dar married the love of his life, Rosemary Kofford Cloward, in the Manti, Utah temple. Their union was a testament to love and commitment that lasted for over five decades. Together, they raised a beautiful family and created countless cherished memories.
Dar is survived by his devoted wife, Rosemary, and their six children: Jenny and Rusty Goode, Jeff Cloward and WhiteRose Whitefeather, Mandy and Trinity Giles, Megan and Landon Fausett, Rachel and Victor Vogel, and Becky and Jayce Lee. He is also survived by his loving sister, Gay Bell, and a host of 17 adoring grandchildren. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family.
Dar was a successful entrepreneur, running a Real Estate Appraisal business in Utah County for many years. His dedication to his work was a source of pride for him and an inspiration to others.
Outside of his professional life, Dar found joy in various hobbies and outdoor activities. He was an avid marksman, reader, and loved boating, 4-wheeling, and family picnics up the canyon. His adventurous spirit was infectious, and he brought laughter and happiness to all who knew him.
A graveside service to celebrate Joseph Dar Clowardás life will be held at the La Verkin City Cemetery, located at 580 N State Street, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, 2:00pm MST. There will be a luncheon following the graveside service at La Verkin Utah Stake, 481 North Main Street, La Verkin, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a veteran charity of choice.
Joseph Dar Cloward will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his enduring love, wisdom, and joyful spirit will forever reside in their hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
