Anson Call

Oct 10, 2023

June 28, 1977 — September 17, 2023

Brooklyn — Anson Wesley Call, our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, partner, and father passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 17th, 2023. He was born in Provo, Utah, on June 28th, 1977, the sixth child of Duane and Tamra Sheppard Call. He is preceded in death by his brother Shawn Miller Call and survived by his parents; brothers Duane Jr. (Molly), Jason (Myra), and Devon (Michelle); his sisters Anne and Beth Hulme (Mike); his partner and best friend Amanda Zulker; and his three beautiful boys, Roan Nelson Call who carries his father’s magnetic charisma and charm, Sheppard Nelson Call who carries his father’s daredevil spirit and agility, and Smith Nelson Call who carries his pure joy for questioning “why” and mischievous spark (Jodi Nelson, Mother).

Anson was wildly creative. He had an eye for beauty, capturing it in every picture he took. Those that worked with him benefitted from this daily, and all of us were often touched by what he had to share on social media. He also produced some of the prettiest songs, each of which give a glimpse into an emotional and sensitive side that any who knew him felt deeply. He was thoughtful about everything he created. And all of these skills were present from his earliest days to his last.

There are not enough words to capture Anson, but all who knew him were impacted by his kindness, wit, charm, and love. He had a smirk about him that was contagious. He had a warmth in his smile, voice, and eyes. He was generous with his personality, and made everyone he interacted with feel important. He was real. He was sincere. And the breadth of his life experiences, from adventures, losses, successes, and joys, provided him with an understanding and acceptance of people that was palpable. His presence will be greatly missed by so many.

This world will not be the same without you, Anson Call. Goodbye, you dear, sweet man!
