Janet Judah McKendrick Anderson

Oct 10, 2023

1933 – 2023

Janet Judah McKendrick Anderson graduated from this life on October 1, 2023. She recently turned 90 and was able to celebrate with many of her family members. Janet was born on August 30, 1933 in Logan, Utah, to George A. and Monna Campbell Judah. She lived in Castle Dale, Utah in her childhood days. The family moved to Garland, Utah and then settled in Logan, Utah, where Janet attended junior high and high school. She then attended Utah State University for one year, where she met and married Bryan F. McKendrick on June 11, 1951. They moved to Provo, Utah after Bryan’s schooling and built a house on the idyllic Maple Lane, where Janet lived until the last few months of her life. Janet and Bryan soon became the parents of three daughters. After 12 years of marriage, Bryan became ill and passed away. Janet married E. Lisle Anderson on Nov. 19, 1965. They added another daughter and a son to the family.

Janet attended BYU and earned her degree in education in 1974. She was a beloved English teacher and later a librarian at Provo High School for 25 years. She loved teaching and her students loved her. She kept in touch with many of her former students throughout the years. She was such a friendly and outgoing person that everywhere she went in the world, from the Great Wall of China to Disneyland, she ran into someone that she knew. And if, by chance, she didn’t meet someone she knew, then she made a new friend. Janet loved serving in the LDS church, as well, and fulfilled many callings with love and devotion during her lifetime. She also was an active participant in many women’s and community clubs and groups. Her favorite by far was bridge club! Janet retired from Provo High in 1999 but continued to love and serve people in all that she did. She and Lisle served a mission as LDS Church Conference Center guides; they then spent a year teaching English in China in conjunction with BYU. They served a mission in New Bedford, MA in 2004-05 where they loved helping immigrants earn their U.S. citizenship and supporting the missionaries. Janet and Lisle spent many happy hours serving others, from their own children and grandchildren to ward members, friends, and strangers. They also loved traveling and went on many travel adventures all over the world.

Janet always loved spending time with her many family members and was never happier than when cuddling a grandbaby.

Janet is survived by her children: Judy Jensen, Kristen (Tim) Hollingshead, Robyn (Charles) Brimhall, Michelle (Jay) Larsen and Craig (Amie) Anderson, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Renee, husband Bryan McKendrick, husband Lisle Anderson, and son-in-law Jack Jensen.

The family would like to thank the Snow Canyon Beehive Home of St. George for their kindness and caring during the last few months of Janet’s life.

Services will be held on Saturday Oct. 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 1038 N. 1200 E. Provo, Ut (the Apple Chapel). The family will receive visitors the same day from 9:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
