Sep 19, 2023

1991 – 2023

Kimberly Mykin Soerensen, 32 passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 after a valiant two year fight with rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer.

Kimberly was born on August 19, 1991, in Provo, Utah and became the middle child of Karl and Karen Moake Soerensen. Kimberly made her debut two weeks early at 3:13 am on the first day of school. Prompting an early morning call to her mom’s Principal with sub instructions.

Kimberly attended Westridge Elementary, Centennial Middle School and Provo High School.

She loved learning, and reading was her first love which inspired her to write her own novels. She developed a love of all genres of books and weekly trips with Dad to the library were much anticipated outings.

Kimberly also loved music and played the flute in the Provo High marching band throughout high school. The “Nightmare Before Christmas” became her all-time favorite half-time show.

Kimberly was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a friend to all she came in contact with. People seemed to be drawn to her spirit and she delighted in meeting new roommates and coworkers who became instant and forever friends.

Kimberly graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2012 after completing her favorite semester; a six country tour of Europe. She loved seeing the cultures of Austria, Italy, Germany, England, France, and the Czech Republic. She dreamed about returning and sharing her experiences with her family.

Kimberly loved life to the fullest. All holidays were a cause to decorate the house to the max with Halloween and Christmas being among her favorites. Through her employment at Shirley’s Bakery she learned to love baking and being at Hobby Lobby for the last six years, aided in her vast yarn and fabric collections for crocheting dishcloths and sewing table runners and couch pillow covers for every season.

Kimberly is survived by her parents Karl and Karen, her loving and devoted siblings: Kristin and K. Spencer, Grandma Gerta Soerensen, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and fur babies Autumn and Willow. She was preceded in death by her Grandpa Carl Soerensen, Grandpa Charlie and Grandma Gloria Moake and the famous fur baby, Moose.

Our family is grateful to the Huntsman Cancer Institute doctors, nurses and office staff, the CNS Home Health and Hospice teams – all too many people to list personally by name, coworkers and friends who cared for and loved Kim during her fight and became family to us.
