Provo — Kathryn (Kathy) Convey was the only child of her parents, William George Weber, Jr., and Barbara Ann Stokdyk. She was born on September 23, 1942 in Shasta County, California. She married Robert William Convey on July 14, 1962 in San Mateo, California. They were the parents of three children: Christine Elvira, Brian William, and Michael David. Kathy and Robert divorced, and Robert later died in a tragic home accident on May 11, 1980, a devastating blow to their children. Her son Brian was killed in a gun accident at the age of 17. Kathryn briefly attended the University of California at Berkeley, and then later attended Barstow College, completing a certificate program there. She spent more than a year serving as a missionary in Germany for an evangelical Christian organization. One of the highlights of her life was a trip around the world at the end of her service in Germany. Kathy later joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in Barstow, California. She served a senior mission in Spokane, Washington in 1990 and 1991. She had lived in Provo since 1992. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Christine, and her son Brian. She is survived by her son Michael and son-in-law Richard N. Cummings, both of California. Kathy was known for her happy and generous nature. She loved to provide acquaintances with thoughtful small gifts. She was passionate about gardening, always making the yard of her home a delight for those passing by. She was also dedicated to genealogy work, spending many hours researching her ancestry. Kathy died of a stroke on September 26, 2023. As a final act of giving, Kathy generously donated her body to the University of Utah Medical School. A memorial service will be held at the Senior Center at the Provo Recreation Center, 320 West 500 North, at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023.
