Robert Taylor Belliston

Apr 11, 2024

1952 – 2024

Robert Taylor Belliston passed away on March 30, 2024, from diabetes complications. Despite the trials of diabetes and other trials in his life he led a loving and strong life. It is comforting to know that he was met in the next life by his loving mother, father, brother Randy, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many beloved dogs and cats that passed before him.

Robert was born on October 6, 1952, in Provo, Utah to Robert Lee and Dorothy Taylor Belliston. He grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High. He loved all sports but especially baseball. He was devoted to the sport and most importantly the Dodgers and the Red Sox. His favorite players as a boy and young man were Duke Snider and Carl Yastrzemski. He played baseball at Provo High. After high school he attended BYU for a time and then started work at Geneva Steel Mill. He married Cheryl Froisland in the Provo Temple on November 7, 1975. He worked at Geneva for over 30 years until the mill shut down permanently. Those were hard times for him. It was around that time that he was diagnosed with diabetes. Once the mill shut down, he returned to school and got a degree in accounting. He worked accounting and other jobs for a while but he so enjoyed the times at Geneva and all the many forever friendships he made there. To him they were the best of times.

Bob’s greatest joy was his relationship and love for his children and grandchildren. He loves them so dearly. He spent holidays and family reunions with them and many special times at ballparks watching his sons and grandchildren playing baseball, basketball and soccer. When his eyesight began to fail, he would stand by the fence next to 1st base and listen for when Scott got a hit and could tell when the ball hit the first baseman’s glove or if Scott touched the bag first. Always a proud grandpa! He was able to go see his youngest grandsons play ball also but was not as mobile then and was stuck in the bleachers or in a wheelchair instead of by the fences or in the dugout.

Bob is survived by his wife Cheryl; his three children, Jeffery Robert (Aliceson) Belliston, Michael Christian Belliston and Rebecca Christine Belliston and by 8 grandchildren; Scott (Heather) Belliston, Madalynn Belliston, Haylie Belliston, Atticus Allred, Zachary Belliston, Samuel Howard and Belle Howard. He is also survived by his brother, Ted (Barbara) Belliston, his sister Wendy (Larry) Stuver and by his uncle Dr. Steven (Colleen) Bigler.

We would like to thank CNS and their very attentive and loving Hospice caregivers. Especially Sarah, Ellie, Macie, Chaplain Mike, Natalie, Hoiman, and Esther who have all been ‘Angels’ sent from Heaven for Bob and our family.

Robert’s funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Timpview 2nd Ward Chapel, 865 West 1000 North, Orem, Utah. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. He will be buried at Eastlawn Memorial Hills, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah.
