Robert Drennan
June 19, 1938 — August 15, 2024
Sonora — Robert Warren Drennan, 86, of Sonora, California passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2024 after a two-year battle against pancreatic cancer.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia Rowley Drennan, and his five children: Bob (Penny) Drennan, Greg (Monica) Drennan, Mike (Colleen) Drennan, Jill Drennan, Judy (Steve) Garrard; 15 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren; one brother, Bryan (Coralee) Drennan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Boyd.
Bob was born June 19, 1938 in Southern California, and spent his formative years growing up in San Mateo, California, where he graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1957.
He later attended BYU and met his forever sweetheart, Pattie, in Provo, Utah. They built a wonderful life together, moving back to California to open the third Kentucky Fried Chicken in California, located in Stockton. In 1969, Bob left KFC and opened his own automotive business. They moved to Sonora, California in 1992 where he owned Sonora Transmissions. He loved his 1951 Ford Crown Victoria, and had the uncanny superpower to tell you the year, make, and model of just about any car. Those around him knew of his love for his family, cars, and cake.
Bob’s life was devoted to his family and the gospel, and served as a bishop and high councilor in his church. Bob will always be loved and remembered endearingly by family, friends, acquaintances, and by those uncounted people whose lives he touched.
