In Loving Memory of Blair Ray Hamilton

Blair Ray Hamilton, a devoted family man, avid outdoorsman, and accomplished electrical contractor, returned to his Heavenly Father on December 12, 2024 at the age of 93. Born on January 25, 1931 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Calvin Dwight Hamilton and Anne Simmons. He married his childhood sweetheart Merlene Grotegut on January 11, 1950 and raised four daughters, Deanne Wallace, Kathleen Johnson Sims, Melanie Bowen and Alyson Brook. He loved his wife, children and their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Blair lived a life marked by faith, adventure and tireless dedication to his work for loved ones.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Blair loved serving in the Church in numerous bishoprics and served as a temple worker with his wife, Merlene, for over 20 years. They served in the Provo and Payson Temples as well as serving a temple mission to Nauvoo.

Blair had an insatiable love for the outdoors, especially hunting. His adventures took him to the farthest reaches of the globe, from the majestic Rockies to the plains of Africa. He shared his adventures and vast animal trophy collection to his friends and family alike.

As an electrical contractor and co-founder with his brother Gordon, of Hamilton Brothers Electric, Blair was known for his unmatched work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. He built a thriving business through sheer determination, long hours and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His craftsmanship can be seen in countless homes, schools, airports. freeways and hydroelectric plants throughout the western United States. He was a pilot and loved to fly across the United States, Mexico and Canada for business and pleasure.

Blair’s commitment to public service was evident in the numerous positions that he held. He served on the boards of the Colorado River Energy Distribution Agency, South Utah Valley Power Systems, Strawberry Water Users Association, and the Utah Water Users State Board. He was the founder and president of the South Valley Electric Service District. In addition, he served on the Spanish Fork City Council for close to a decade. He served as the Lieutenant-Governor of the Kiwanis Utah-Idaho District. He was honored with the Kiwanis Distinguished Service Award and UAMPS Champion of Public Power to mention a few.

Blair is survived by his sister, Ramona Rust. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as six siblings: Eleanor Loveless, Elaine Shelton, Mildred Carter, Gordon Hamilton and Roland Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 11 am at the Spanish Fork 12th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 310 East Center Street. A viewing will be held at Walker Mortuary located at 187 South Main on Tuesday, December 17 from 6 – 7:30 pm and 9:45 am – 10:45 am prior to the service. Services will be live streamed through Walker Mortuary. Interment will follow at Spanish Fork Cemetery. Though he will be deeply missed, Blair’s adventurous spirit, steadfast faith and enduring love for his family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
