Diane Leifson

Feb 9, 2024

1950 – 2024

Diane, our loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 7, 2024, at age 73.

She was born in Spanish Fork, Utah to Roland and Thelma Losee on August 10, 1950. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1968 and attended Utah State University. She married her high school sweetheart, Lynn W. Leifson on May 11, 1973 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple, and last May they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have five children, Shane, Scott, Tyler, Jed, and Trever who they raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. She worked as an elementary school librarian in Mapleton, Utah for many years.

Diane had many talents including dance, sewing, scrapbooking, and painting to name a few. She was an incredibly kind person to all that she met, and absolutely loved her family. While raising five boys, she spent more time at the ballpark than she did at her own house. She was fiercely loyal to her son Trever, who she made sure was included in every activity that his older brothers were involved in. She shared a special bond with him that can only be found between a mom and a child with special needs. She also adored her grandchildren and attended as many games and dance recitals that she possibly could. She loved staying in touch with her friends from high school with monthly “club” gatherings, and she also looked forward to her annual Black Friday shopping trips with her mom and sisters as well.

Diane will be missed profoundly by all those who were lucky enough to know here while here on earth. She is survived by her husband Lynn Leifson, her siblings Leon Losee, Connie Lee, and Suanne Backman, and her children Shane (Taralei) Leifson of Spanish Fork, Scott (Tara) Leifson of Salem, Tyler (Ashli) Leifson of American Fork, Jed (Kate) Leifson of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Trever Leifson of Spanish Fork. She was preceded in death by her parents Roland and Thelma Losee, her mother and father-in-law Ted and Ruth Leifson, and her grandson William Leifson.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home on 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah, and again on Tuesday, February 13th from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 870 East Canyon Road, Spanish Fork, Utah. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM following the viewing. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.
