Ruby Cameron

Jan 12, 2024

After 105 years of spreading sunshine, our dear Ruby Cameron left her Earthly estate to meet and greet her dear ones on the other side of the veil. They were reunited on January 5, 2024. Ruby was born August 24, 1918, in Beaver, Utah. She is survived by daughters Marian Wilkinson and Carolyn Montague as well as son Eddie Cameron (Nancy) and son in law Dennis Barker. Also surviving her are Patti, Dorothy, and LaDean Edwards as well as Wayne Edwards (Margene) and Colleen Healey. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Jack Cameron, daughter Gayla Barker, sons in law Michael Montague and Clark Wilkinson. Ruby was the oldest surviving child of Philo and Addie Edwards.

As an avid football fan and sister of legendary coach, LaVell Edwards, she proudly displayed BYU banners in her living room window on game day. She and Jack had season tickets to all BYU football games both home and many away. They also enjoyed watching their son, Eddie, play football at Rick’s College and Weber State.

Ruby spent her life in the Orem area and graduated from Lincoln High School. Active in her church and community, she served as Relief Society President as well as serving twice as President of Orem’s Women’s Club. Ruby also took great pride in her beautiful yard and won Orem’s “Yard of the Month” Award. Together, she and Jack traveled to many places in their motor home. They loved attending Cameron family reunions in a houseboat on Lake Powell.

Ruby spent her last eight years in Gilbert, AZ being attended to lovingly by her daughter Marian until her death. Funeral services will be held in the Orchard Second Ward LDS chapel at 640 East 800 North in Orem on Monday, January 15, at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held there the same day from 9:30 to 10:45 AM.

Condolences may be expressed to the family at SundbergOlpinMortuary.com. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Boys and Girls Club of Utah County at https://bgcutah.org/donate/
