Delmar Boyd Davis

Delmar Boyd Davis, (97) of Orem, Utah, passed away on January 18, 2024, peacefully at home. He was born January 12, 1927, in Provo, Utah, to Boyd Charles and Delphia Marr (Ellis) Davis. He married Marie Rohbock on November 28, 1952, and they are the parents of five children. Delmar was a Merchant Marine during WWII in the Pacific Theater. His greatest desire was to serve the Lord. He served a full-time mission to the Netherlands in 1948-1951 and he served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in numerous callings ­ most fondly as a Bishop twice and in his missionary service. With his wife, he served for many years as a temple missionary in Germany and then in several temples in Utah County. He worked as an analytical chemist.

He is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Elisabeth (Liz) Porter, son Thomas Vance (Sherrie) Davis, and daughter Cherisse Marie Davis, 8 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings (Duane, Leland, Roger), son Andrew Spencer Davis, and daughter Anne Davis.

Delmar led an ordinary life but participated in and created extraordinary events. He was valiant, gentle, kind, analytical, hardworking, and a very good-natured man. He loved life and people. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 am at the LDS Church located at 2168 South 140 West, Orem, with a viewing held that morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services.
